On 23, 24 and 25 April, a seminar in support of civil society was held in Antananarivo, marking the launch of the PACTE project, a project to support the credibility and transparency of elections led by the NGOs ECES, EISA and ERIS and funded by the European Union delegation in Madagascar. As part of this project, the RFI Academy was asked to implement the component aimed at strengthening local radio stations to raise citizens' awareness of the electoral process. In May and June, the Academy will organise two training sessions in Toamasina and Mahajanga for 27 radio stations from 15 towns in the north of the island on how to host interactive awareness-raising programmes and two training sessions on how to produce awareness-raising magazines. These training courses will enable radio stations to produce more professional awareness programmes designed to inform voters about their rights and duties and the electoral process (presidential, legislative and local elections) so that they can act as informed and responsible citizens.
