The European Union has sent a letter congratulating the team of trainers at the France 24-MCD-RFI Academy for their work in Tunisia in 2011 and 2012. ‘We are particularly pleased with the support your experts provided to strengthen media coverage of the October 2011 election process and encourage closer ties between the media and local populations in the regions covered by the project,’ wrote Patrick Berckmans, Minister Counsellor, Head of the Governance, Social Development and Sustainable Development Section at the European Union Delegation in Tunisia, to Dora Jaffel, Head of European Funding at the AEF, who led the project. The 17 weeks of training were organised for the benefit of the regional offices of national radio and television, several new private radio stations and the private television station El Hiwar. A dozen trainers from the AEF participated in the project.
