The director of the FMM Académie, Antoine Cormery, travelled to Baghdad on 24 and 25 September to sign a framework agreement with the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism at the University of Baghdad, Dr Ammar Taher, enabling the launch of an ambitious cooperation programme. For two years, the FMM Académie and its partner, the Centre de Formation des Journalistes (CFJ-Panthéon-Assas), will support the overhaul of the university journalism curriculum from first year to Master's level, based on the French model.
Funded by the MEAE and supported by the French Embassy in Iraq, this FEF (according to the terminology of the Quai d'Orsay) follows on from an initial project entitled ‘Innovative Journalism in Iraq’ (2021-2023). Its aim is to professionalise the training of Iraqi journalism students by strengthening practical teaching in the service of quality journalism.
This project is an opportunity for France 24 Arabic and MCD to deploy the expertise of their teams and strengthen the reputation of our media in a country that is regaining its influence in the Middle East.
